Still Clicking Away

Things have been busy here so I have been rather quiet on the blogging front, we have been lucky with fantastic weather so we have been here, there and everywhere, but the needles have been clicking.

We took a trip to Glastonbury a few weeks ago, I sat at the bottom of the Tor knitting while my tribe climbed up it with some friends we bumped into. With the odd knit here and there and some work on my WIP’s (work in progress) I have kept clicking.

New Forest Fairy Festival 2016

we had another lovely weekend at The New Forest Fairy Festival, lots of fun learning new skills with Gypsy Pyskeys, meeting great fairy’s and elfs, basking in the sun, and so much more, just the right spot to be in on such a lovely weekend

Most of our outfits were made by Peregrine’s Nest, …little fae fairy dress, skirt, trousers and yes that tail…

Colourful May Knit – Pictures So Far!

I have been sharing my colourful knit I was working on during may, this is my own pattern though there are lots of similar ones out there.

I have nearly finished this it needs blocking then is ready to go, I love this because it is easy to get on and off, with my EDS I often struggle to get cardigans on, but this is easier with the low mobility I have.

I will defiantly be making more of these, I loved making it and while knitting I was thinking of the different colour combinations I would use, I would love to knit these for people as I enjoyed it so much!

I think i will call them ‘Festival Waistcoats’ or something similar.

This one will be for 3 wishes faery fest in a few weeks

As you may know by now every year we go to 3 wishes faery festival to celebrate summer solstice, last year I made Peregrine a Cheshire cat outfit apart from the ears all items were worked in the round with a different amount of stitches.

I used some lovely fluffy yarn (stylecraft eskimo)

I made a tail

What Does One Wear To The 3 Wishes Faery Fest

We have been getting prepared for (Karen Kay’s) 3 wishes faery fest here and some conversations have been had as to what you wear to a faery fest!?

Well it is pretty obvious to say a faery outfit! But also pretty much anything!

3 wishes often has a theme for the weekend, mermaids, Alice in wonderland, mythical creatures, pixies, pirates, polka dots… you can dress to the theme, dress as a faery, or however you want. Some people are mermaids all weekend and some are pirates all weekend, some people dress to the theme all the time, some do as they wish…. you can wear whatever you like whenever you like, I am sure it is Karen’s aim for people to just be who they are!?

So here are a few photos of what we (and others) have worn over the years 😀

Take a good look at the people around the main focus of the picture … it gives you an idea of what people do wear… which, again, is anything!

Faery Bubbles!

One thing we all love is bubbles right!? My two kids (and us big kids) most certainly do!

Faery’s make the most epic bubbles you will ever see!

Firstly though I would like to say a massive thank you to Jane (and the lovely pirate at her side!) one morning we got up and dressed the children so they could have a run about around the tent while we got ready and sorted things for the day…after a good layer of sun cream we let them out with the faery’s to play in the morning sun….A tent or two away was Jane, a lovely faery with Bubbles! she kept my two pixies amused playing with bubbles while we got ourselves ready!

Jane I really can’t THANK YOU enough, it was such a help!

Back With Human Kind!

It has taken a few days and we have been feeling rather ‘festival drunk’ and had ‘festival fever’ it is so unbelievable how chilled out we have been since coming home from 3 wishes faery fest, I feel so much more centered and balanced, it was just what we needed, for all of us!

my hubby has been so over worked with caring for all of us and working enough to keep a roof over our heads, we can’t complain we have all we need, but getting away from the city and the every day ‘human’ life was just the thing to bring us all back together and remind us of just why (and how) life should be enjoyed! I guess we didn’t really realize how much we needed a break until we were away with the faeries and they worked there magic!

Now we are back with human kind we are adjusting, but will never fully get used to it 😀

I thought some photos showing the amazing atmosphere of the festival would be just what everyone would like to see! these picture show how relaxing the festival is 😀

There will be more pictures of the people who make the atmosphere so special ones were everywhere you look there is a burst of colour, and some lovely mermaids, faery’s, pirates elves….and so much more!

I really could just go on about the festival for months!

Amazing Fae Weekend!

Well we had a blast over the weekend at 3wishes faery fest, we met some amazing people and the inspiration everywhere was AMAZING! everyone was so lovely and with me being in a wheelchair the help people gave and offered was much appreciated!

Most importantly I really want my husband to know how much I appreciated him wheeling me around and looking after all of us, we are very lucky to have him caring for us so well xxx

I had hoped to come back and write about my weekend with a few photos but to put everything in just one blog post would make it HUGE! and I am so exhausted from the fun we had! So I will do a few posts with our magical fun!

For now I will leave you with these two photos taken on our last day while the sun was starting to set.

Crochet mandala

As you can see one side is knitted and the other crochet, I am super pleased with myself for the crochet side as I really do NOT think of myself as a ‘good’ crocheter but I managed this fine 😀

Each one took me about a day or two…with other stuff in between…like packing!

I am also wearing a shawl which is the same pattern as the one I knitted for the film (I will be making more of these for those who want one)

The hand warmers I made from playing about with yarn a few weeks back,

And I am not sure if you can see, under my hands is a bag with all my faery bits and bobs in 😀

I hope everyone had a great mid summer weekend, the weather was great, perfect for solstice!

Blessed Be xx

We Will Be Away With The Faeries

Things have been a bit mad here for the last few weeks, lots of playing with children lots of organizing, tutu making, painting and knitting… and 6 hrs a week at the hospital!…as well as many other things!

I have done quite a bit of knitting but not really finished anything to show….

This weekend we will be heading off to the 3wishes faery fest to enjoy mid summer, as I type my children are pretending to be heading off to the festival and spotting faery’s! we are just so excited and cannot wait!

My daughter (3yo) asks how long till we go every day, and tells us that she is ‘waiting for the mermaids and faeries to be ready’ she has also been pretending to camp! shes so excited!!

I have a few knits I will be taking though I am not sure whether I will be wearing them, will just have to see what the gods decide the weather will be! sunny I hope!!..or at least little rain!

My outfits loosely fit the themes of the days, I really would have liked more in the way of costumes but my plans did not work out as I had thought, but then i just can’t help but think ‘there is always next year!’ 😀 I was planning to wear a white dress but couldn’t sort some problems in time, mind you I have a nice colourfull dress instead! I am not sure the hand warmers will go with it but worth giving it a go to see!

Most importantly I have wings  (nothing special) and my tu-tu is ready! along with the rest of the family so we are all set!…well just a quick wand check!

We live in a city so it is great to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life! to relax… there is a lovely song by Damh the Bard (under a Beltane sun) this  just sums it up for me, living near the moors it really is one of the songs that reminds me why we take time out to sit by rivers and and on ancient moorland enjoying just what mother earth has to offer us! the song is about Beltane and the song really sums it up well, but it also describes just how it feels when you head out of the city, when you feel that need, and are drawn to certain place to relax, spend some time with loved ones and have lots of fun.

The festival is held on some lovely land by the sea and it is just a magical place to be, ever since I was a child I have been visiting the Country Park that the festival is held on, I can’t even remember my first visit it was that early on in my life, and when I met my husband as well as once my son was born I just couldn’t wait to take them for an explore of the 865 acres! and my daughter got her first introduction on her trip last year.

With a jam packed timetable of activity’s and music I am sure we will not stop, but somehow this festival just seems to be the most relaxed, fun and enjoyable thing ever! coming away relaxed and refreshed even if a little tired!

I’m not going to pretend I am expecting to manage everything I want to do, so this year I am taking a ‘go with the flow’ approach…or should that be go with the fae!?

There are things I cannot do, in a wheelchair, or at least would worry that it just wouldn’t work out well, I may ask about a few things but honestly I really do not feel I will miss out, I can have a nice chilled little sit down with a drink and join in with other activity’s or just listen to the Amazing music while the others go off for a Flower Fairies Wild Foraging Walk or taking a walk to look for faeries! and of course me being me I will have my needles (or hook) to hand! with some vegan friendly yarn! 😀

While I take in the atmosphere I have no doubt my 2 little pixies will get up to some mischief !!

I cannot wait till the faery fun begins!

The faery world record is on Saturday and I believe this is free so if you have time or are close enough to join in the magic then why not come along too and be away with the faeries ….
